Ejari Explained: Your Key to Dubai Renting

‘Ejari’ literally translates to ‘My Rent’ in Arabic. The Ejari system in Dubai is an initiative by RERA under the provisions of Law No. 26 of 2007. This law stipulates that all rental contracts for properties in Dubai must be registered online through the official portal, a state-of-the-art system designed to protect the rights of landlords and tenants in the city.

This system also officially records the agreed-upon rent, preventing landlords from indiscriminately increasing rent during tenancy contract renewals in Dubai.

The responsibility to register Ejari rests with both the tenant and the landlord, although in most cases, the tenant or the real estate agent typically completes the process.

There are two methods to register: online through the Ejari portal on the DLD website, Dubai Rest, and the Dubai Now app, or by visiting any approved centers.
